Despite all the chaos and trauma that Covid has caused there are still some positives that have come out of this pandemic. When the first lockdown was announced communities rallied round to support each other; suddenly streets had their own WhatsApp group, neighbours who had never spoken were buying groceries for each other and there was a spurt of random acts of kindness. While this initial sense of camaraderie may have waned slightly as the pandemic has dragged on, there is still a big effort on both a local and national scale to help those most adversely affected. Although we have been socially distanced, Covid has, in many respects, brought us together.
It is not just in times of crisis that community is important. Being part of a community not only gives us a sense of belonging, it provides opportunities for collaboration and knowledge sharing. It is the connections built through community that make us stronger and enable us to grow. At Sussex Innovation we have always valued the power of community both within our membership and wider business network but it has been more important than ever to work together to navigate the ups and downs of the past year. There is still a lot of uncertainty over what will happen over the coming months but one thing that is for certain is that working collaboratively is key.
We will be running a refer a friend scheme for the next 3 months, so if you know anyone who would benefit from joining our inspiring entrepreneurial community ask them to get in touch. All referrers and referees will receive 25% off their rent or membership fees for 1 month. Please share these enquiry forms with anyone in your network who is interested and make sure they mention you in the “How did you hear about us?” section:
