And yet first education and then employment squash this spirit of curiosity out of us, prizing answers much more highly than questions. Too often, people who ask questions are marginalised for being troublesome, unruly, or disruptive. As a result, the simple act of asking questions is routinely dismissed as being almost too trivial to contemplate.
It’s time this changed. In a world of information overload, the key to finding the data we need to spark innovations and unlock new markets is to ask smarter questions. In this dynamic and interactive early evening masterclass, acclaimed author and master data storyteller Sam Knowles will share his Six Universal Principles of Asking Smarter Questions. He’ll introduce you to the world’s best (and simplest) briefing template. And he’ll rekindle your spirit of enquiry, arm you with the tools you need to satisfy your thirst for knowledge, and – as Apple used to say – get you to ‘think different’.

Sam Knowles is the Founder and Chief Data Storyteller of the award-winning consultancy Insight Agents. An accomplished speaker, trainer, and podcaster, Sam is the author of the ‘Using Data Better’ trilogy of books with Routledge: Narrative by Numbers, How To Be Insightful, and – most relevant for anyone interested in this session – 2022’s critically-acclaimed Asking Smarter Questions.
