The University of Sussex Business Angels (USBA) group has announced the latest investment by its local business angels in a pre-seed fundraising round for “last mile delivery” technology platform, Naurt.

“It’s great to see another exciting local start-up gaining support from four members of our angel community. USBA was designed to foster these partnerships between ambitious innovators and investors who want to support growing Sussex businesses,” said Simon Chuter, Head of Investment Services at Sussex Innovation.

Naurt’s geocoder technology is designed to provide delivery drivers with more precise information on the final leg of their journey – identifying the best spot to park and where to find the delivery entrance for large communal buildings such as blocks of flats, offices and schools.

This additional level of detail has been shown to save one delivery company an average of 31 minutes per driver, per day – increasing efficiency, reducing costs, and resulting in higher customer satisfaction.

“I invested in this exciting company as they already have a great product, but the technology has applications in so many other industries too,” said Damien Burke, one of the USBA investors.

The investment will enable Naurt to continue refining their offering as they expand to new territories. “I’m excited to onboard some great angel investors in Brighton, whose support will go towards our goal of launching around the world,” said Jack Maddalena, CEO and founder of Naurt.
