The ‘Safe and Secure’ Breakfast
For most of us, the phrase “security staff” gives rise to a mental image of burly, intimidating men. Lisa Baskott bucked the trend when she became a licensed door supervisor in September 2021, covering events including the Labour Party Conference. But where, wondered Lisa, were all the other women doing the job? There were hardly any so the obvious answer – for Lisa at least – was to set up her own company.
2nd Line of Defence is the UK’s first female-focus recruitment agency in the private security sector. It’s been a huge success and Lisa was recently named as one of 100 most influential businesswomen in the country.
Lisa’s route to the security industry might surprise you. Her background is in B2B media, specialising in publishing, tv, online and mobile advertising. In 2014, after 20 years, she moved into property development and still runs a property business today.
At our January breakfast, Lisa will talk about how building resilient communities is an essential aspect of safeguarding, as they are o better equipped to deal with crises of all types.
So come along to our first breakfast of 2024 – we hope to see you there!
