“Two intense but fulfilling days of business support from the incredible in-house team and guest speakers. Real value added through the relevance of the information imparted and the willingness of the team and speakers to actively listen and help. An excellent chance to network within the fabulous surroundings of the Grand Hotel. Made us feel absolutely valued and looked after, creating a sense of community, while honouring the diversity and needs of each small business owner.” – Phaedon Zacharoudes, founder, FayJay Ltd

Over two days of sessions, you’ll refresh your marketing knowledge, jump-start your next sales strategy and develop plans for untested markets, with tools, skills and examples including:

Starting with the Customer

Any good marketing strategy depends on knowing your customers’ needs and problems inside-out. Learn how to interrogate what your customers want and how they want it, with research and insight specialists Maria Bedoya and Helen Bailey. How can you carry out detailed and unbiased market research on a budget, and how do you interpret and understand what your insights are telling you?

Standing Out in a Crowded Market

Clear marketing messages need to be well differentiated and explain what sets you apart from the competition. But how do you get customers’ attention when there are many others selling the same products or services? Communications advisor Joseph Bradfield shares the secrets behind standing out and claiming a defendable identity for your business.

Building Your Brand

A cohesive brand identity helps to bring your business to life for customers, endowing it with a consistent personality, tone of voice and visual appearance in their minds. Marketing advisor Claire Pasquill walks you through the brand platform canvas, a tool for exploring, organising and defining the principles behind your brand.

Getting to Yes

Sales skills are some of the most important tools in the small business owner’s armoury, often making the difference between success and failure. Executive coach Richard Lassiter explains the techniques involved in pitching what you have to offer, from active listening to asking the right questions.

Defining Your Marketing Plan

In this interactive session, Claire Pasquill and project manager Aly Davie will work through the sales and marketing model canvas, a two-page plan to help bring structure to your marketing activity with defined actions and objectives.

Building a Pipeline

Successful sales strategies rely on a robust process for managing every step of the prospective customer journey, from capturing their interest to converting them into repeat business. In this session with HubSpot for Startups you’ll learn how to work with a pipeline of leads and manage your sales and marketing data to get the best results.

Social Media for Small Business

There are a bewildering array of options for any small business owner looking to dip a toe into the world of social media marketing. How do you decide which channel is right for your brand, and ensure you get the most return on the time you’re investing? Joseph explains where to start, and how to shape a content marketing plan that won’t need you to become a full-time social media manager on top of your job.

Roundtable Q&A

Our closing session brings together our consultancy team with experienced business owners and representatives from enterprise sales and marketing platforms. Share your questions and challenges with our panel and tap into their expertise on the best routes forward.

“Such an inspiring two days. So many ideas and ‘next steps’ generated – and so much positivity and creativity in the room. The support and resources provided by all of the speakers was invaluable.” – Sarah Leedham, founder, Pendulum Training
